The Month of December is dedicated to the Divine Infancy. “Mary wraps up a small bundle of clothes for the use of her little Son, and then, going to the crib, she says with tears in her eyes to her sleeping Child, ‘O my Son, and my God! Thou hast come from heaven to save men; but hardly art Thou born when they seek to take Thy life.”
Holy Child Jesus
O Holy Child Jesus,
who shed Your blessings on whoever invokes Your name, look kindly on us who kneel humbly before Your holy Image, and hear our prayers. We commend to Your mercy the many poor and needy people who trust in Your Divine Heart.
Lay Your all powerful hand upon them and help them in their needs. Lay Your hand upon the sick, to cure them and sanctify their suffering; upon those in distress, to console them; upon sinners, to draw them into the light of your divine grace; upon all those who, stricken with grief and suffering, turn trustingly to You for loving help.
Lay Your hand also upon all of us and give us Your blessing. O little King, grant the treasures of Your divine mercy to all the world, and keep us now and always in the grace of your love!
Amen.
Devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague is devotion to the Child Jesus. It is veneration of the Son of God, who in the form of an infant chose a stable for a palace, a manger for a cradle, and shepherds for worshipers.
Our Savior grants special graces to all who venerate His sacred Infancy.
The image of the Child Jesus known as the “Infant Jesus of Prague” was in reality of Spanish origin. In the 17th century, this beautiful statue was brought by a Spanish princess to Bohemia and presented to a Carmelite monastery.
Prayer to the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague
O Infant Jesus, I have recourse to You and ask You through the intercession of Your Holy Mother to help me in my need, ( mention it here) for I firmly believe that Your Divinity can help me.
I hope, in complete trust, to obtain Your holy grace. I love You with all my heart and with all the strength of my soul. I am truly sorry for all my sins, and beg You, O good Jesus, to give me strength to conquer them. I shall never offend You and I am ready to suffer rather than to cause You pain.
From now on I want to serve with complete faithfulness and for love of You, O Divine Child, I will love my neighbour as well as myself. Omnipotent Child, Lord Jesus, again I implore You, help me in this need of mine (mention it).
Grant me the grace of possessing You eternally, with Mary and Joseph and of adoring You with the holy angels in Your heavenly court.
Amen.
Prayer to the Infant Jesus
Come to me, O Divine Savior, vouchsafe to be born in my heart. Grant that, taught by Thine example, and assisted by Thy grace, I may be poor in spirit and humble in heart. Keep me chaste and obedient. I wish to live but for thee, and to do all things purely for love of Thee. O Mary, my Advocate and Mother, obtain by thy prayers, forgiveness of my past offenses and holy perseverance unto death. St. Joseph, do thou also pray for me, that I may become daily more pleasing to Jesus. Amen.
Prayer On The 25th Day Of Each Month
O most adorable Infant Jesus, my King, and my Savior, I dedicate myself to You this day offering to You my whole being, my soul, my body, my will and all that belongs to me. I beseech You to take possession of it all, as I desire no longer to live but in You, nor to possess anything, except it be according to Your will, so that in the future I may look upon myself simply as an instrument in Your hands, to do whatever you desire with me in all things.
Chaplet of the Infant Jesus of Prague
This chaplet consists of 3 Our Fathers in honor of the Holy Family, and 12 Hail Marys in memory of the 12 years of the Sacred Infancy of our Divine Saviour. To this chaplet of 15 beads is attached a medal of the Infant Jesus of Prague.
On the medal the following invocation is said: “Divine Infant Jesus, I adore Thy Cross and I accept all the cross Thou wilt be pleased to send me. Adorable Trinity, I offer Thee for the glory of Thy Holy Name of God, all the adorations of the Sacred Heart of the Holy Infant Jesus.”
Each Our Father and Hail Mary is preceded by the aspiration: “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.” On terminating the chaplet say: “Holy Infant Jesus, bless and protect us.”
This devotion owers its origin to the zeal of Sister Marguerite, a Carmelite religious, who died in France in 1648. She was distinguished for her devotion to the Holy Child Jesus.
A Special Prayer
I pray Thee, sweetest Infant, in the name of Thy Blessed Mother Mary who cared for Thee with such tenderness, and by the great reverence with which St. Joseph carried Thee in His arms; strengthen me and make me holy that I may bless and thank Thee forever from all my heart. Amen.
